2017 is here! New Wedding Trends for the New Year!

2017 is here! New Wedding Trends for the New Year!

2016 was such an amazing year for weddings!!

We saw a bunch of burlap, babies breath, chalk boards, glitter, rose gold and blush. We also saw some photo booths, rustic wooden or other kinds of signage and candy buffets.

BUT what is NEW? What in IN? What can we do in 2017 to blow our weddings out of the water and make a big NEW statement!?!

These are the hottest trends right now for 2017!

I am ABSOLUTELY loving these trends and ready to jump on board! Of course if you need any help with planning, designing, or making decisions, contact us! We will make your Pinterest dreams a reality!

What's IN!?

FLOWERS

ANY Wild Flowers!!! GREENS GREENS GREENS, including any variety of Eucalyptus and Ferns! I personally think white stock is IN IN IN and I'm LOVING it! For fillers I recommend Queen Anne's Lace or wax flowers over Babies Breath. I also love button mums and aster! Also IN, lambs ear & dusty miller!  The big one? White anemones with dark centers! LOVE THEM! You cannot focus enough on flowers in 2017. You cannot have enough garlands, swags and arrangements! The more greens and flowers the better. Babies breath halos or head pieces are out. Green halos are IN!

COLORS

2017 colors?

NAVY NAVY NAVY! Dress your man in Navy! Dress your bridal party in Navy! Also think "berries" such as raspberries, blueberries and strawberries! (Picture a dark cherry color or a burgundy rather than a hot pink raspberry) Plum and different shades of purples are also in!

For a softer look, go for the soft pastel wild flowers in a variety of colors! STUNNING! Also the classic green and white or ivory is still IN and it's amazing!!!

DECOR

If it was my choice, I would personally steer clear of burlap, blush, rose gold, or glitter this year. I would also let the chalk boards go.
It's been done done done. We really do not need to add signage to everything. I think at this point everyone should know what sweets are, what water is, what day it is, what favors are, what a guest book is.... annnnd if they can't figure it out.... well.... I don't know what to say to that person.

I recommend green garlands with or without added flowers or fillers as centerpieces or large swags. If you can't swing that in the budget or it's not your style, clear mason jars are still in and for a regal look go for the stunning tall Eiffel arrangement. I would still add a ton of votive or taper candles, real petals and crystal confetti to any table that does not have a garland. Large grand swags are IN for arbors, gazebos, pergolas, mantles etc.! I would also add a swag to your cake table & head table! I would skip the lanterns and focus on flowers!

I would also skip the photo booths, yard games or games of any sort, and candy buffets and focus again on FLOWERS! Keep it simple, romantic, and luxurious.

Flowers are going to make the #1 statement at your wedding and create the look and feel you are going for in 2017! I would order as many small arrangements or bud vases as you can to add around the venue as well.

For the ceremony, I truly recommend floral or green swags on each chair or pew lining the aisle to use as aisle markers. If that is not your personal style or you wish to skip that, petals down the aisle are nice if you can swing it. Also be sure to add a swag (or two or three) or garland to an arbor, pergola, or gazebo or use large arrangements on pedestals for the ceremony backdrop. The ceremony is the most important part of the wedding so be sure not to skimp! This is where you will exchange your sacred vows and you want the look and feel to be as sacred and romantic as possible! I do not think shepherd hooks down the aisle (with bows or small hanging arrangements) are necessary but they are also nice. Bud vases or small arrangements down the aisles as aisle markers are nice as well.

CAKE

Naked cakes and simple white buttercream cakes are still in! Add a bunch of flowers or greens and dress that thing up as much as you can! Also dessert tables are still in and who is extremely happy about that? ME! Add several pies, cheesecakes, pastries, cupcakes, and other desserts to your dessert table for guests to have fun trying different desserts!

WEDDING DRESS

The dress is SOOOOO important. Aside from flowers and the photographer, the dress is #1!! Do not just buy any ol dress!

Short dresses are out! Lace is still absolutely in! Spaghetti straps or any kind of straps are definitely in as well! Tons of beading is also in!!! (more beading the better!!) Check out our collection of dresses or ask us about helping you find the right dress for you! We have a bunch of connections and try to stay ahead of what is trending! Try to stay away from large chains such as David's Bridal or Alfred Angelo's. Instead try Charming Bridal, BHLDN, ModCloth, or Blush Fashion Boutique! For 2017 I would say steer clear from the "cliche" wedding dress. Go bold, unique and romantic!! Contact us anytime if you would like help finding your dress! We would love to help!

BRIDAL PARTY

Again Navy Navy Navy and berry colors. Steer clear of the rose gold and blush just because it's been done, done, done. Try champagne or oyster or nude instead of "blush."  Again avoid short dresses in 2017! Tons of beading is still in! Have your bridal party wear coordinating colors but not be uniform! That is still in as well!  If you need help putting your look together, we would love to help! Be sure to contact us anytime!
